Feilding and District Steam Rail Society was formed with the intention of rebuilding a New Zealand Steam Locomotive. February 1997 saw New Zealand Railway and Locomotive Society's 1927 Wab moved from covered storage at Ferrymead near Christchurch to Feilding, amongst plenty of public support.
