Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) is the nation's largest trails organization with 100,000 members and donors who support the Rails-to-Trails mission of building and maintaining rail- trails. RTC is dedicated to connecting people and communities by creating a nationwide network of these public trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Founded in 1986, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is located in Washington, D.C. and has field offices in California, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and a field representative in New England. RTC is the sole national non-profit to be awarded the President's Award for Sustainable Development (1996)
