Long before the SP's Cascade line was completed, the small town of Westfir (MP 582.7) was the location of a large lumber operation. Started as the Western Lumber Company, it later became the Westfir lumber company, and finally the Edward Hines Lumber Company. In 1966 the mill shipped nearly 2900 carloads of wood products via the SP!
