West Virginia and North Carolina Rails
History has been an inspiring interest during my life and as it applies to the rail scene is no different;in fact, that pursuit is my favorite aspect of the hobby because it entails exploration and comparing today with yesterday. It is noted that although the internet has proliferated the growth of the hobby, the predominant interest that seems to prevail is the pursuit of the present day scene as in train "chasing", photography and video, and even the complexities of rail operations. While this majority is creating a tremendous volume of the present for future reference, those who research and document the steadily disappearing rail remnants from yesteryear are fewer in number. Fortunately, their efforts are preserving for generations to come a database of information that will be priceless as the years pass. On a personal level, the latter is more on par with my primary interest.

World Rail Photos by Pierce Haviland
The NJ, NY & CT Railroad page was started by Pierce Haviland in 1997 to provide information and photographs relating to railroading in the New Jersey, New York and Connecticut area. It is constantly updated with contributions from photographers who are railroad employees or enthusiasts. Since photo subjects are from all over the world, we have changed the name of the site to World Rail Photos.
