Bill McCready's Live Steam Model Trains
This site is dedicated to my Father and mentor, Bill McCready who passed away February 12, 2004 at the age of 80+. My father's life was filled with many, many accomplishments, and many, many great friends. Details of his life can be found on his biography. His lifelong passion was his tool and die work, his machine shops and most of all, his hobby of building custom models. This website is a tribute to that hobby. His many friends and family have contributed photos to this site. He will be missed by us all, but his work will remain with us forever.

Groovy track
This page is a re-creation of the "Groovy Track" article that appeared on the Rail Systems Company website, which no longer exits. Thanks goes to Archive.org for archiving this and many other websites full of treasure.

The title for "Groovy" track was first used by Jack Munson who began building several railroads using various methods back around 1972. It is called "groovy" due to the grooves in the ties. Remember the old hippy term "groovy"? This stuff really is groovy!

Every 5 years, the largest Live Steam meet is held at various locations. The 2000 IBLS (International Brotherhood of Live Steamers) meet was the largest yet. It began August 10th, 2000 and lasted almost a month. The meet followed the west coast of the United States and Canada. Beginning in Vancouver British Columbia at the Burnaby Central Railway, the meet continued all the way down the coast ending up in the Los Angeles Live Steamers in southern California. Truly an international meet, locomotives, rolling stock and other equipment all converged on this small area of the globe. People as far as Australia, Central Africa and Europe attended the meet.
