Nebraska, Kearney - Kearney West Virtual Railfan Live
Kearney, NE - Kearney, Nebraska is located on the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) Kearney Subdivision between North Platte, NE, and Grand Island, NE, part of the UP's original Transcontinental Railroad, a.k.a., the Overland Route. As such, this is a very busy route, seeing about 80 freight trains daily with 3 main tracks. Main 1 is the northernmost track, i.e., the one farthest away from the cameras, then Main 2, then Main 3, and then closest are the sidings for The Andersons grain silo. Kearney is at milepost 188.8 on the Kearney Sub. To the west at North Platte, trains enter the massive Bailey Yard complex, where through trains are refueled and serviced, crews are swapped, and also many trains either terminate or begin. New Hampshire, Mount Washington - The CogCam
Mount Washington, NH - The Mount Washington Cog Railway is the first mountain-climbing cog railway in the world. With an average grade of 25% (some sections approach nearly 38%), it’s also the second steepest! Motive power is primarily provided by a fleet of seven powerful biodiesel locomotives, each custom designed, built and maintained on site. And with a nod to its steam heritage, the railway also continues to operate a pair of coal-fired steam engines in the warmer months, both well over a century old.
Here’s what things look like right now at our boarding platforms at Marshfield Base Station, elevation 2700’. From May through October, our biodiesel trains depart for the summit hourly, on the hour. Steam trains run less frequently from June through October. Winter trips to Waumbek Station (4000’) depart 3–5 times daily.

New York, Fairport - Fairport West Virtual Railfan Live
Fairport, NY - CSX has a major through-way here in Fairport where three of their primary east-west lines converging through the middle of this busy village. The daily average on the three tracks is more than 40. Traffic includes 4 daily Amtrak trains, CSX, an occasional CN and even the once-in-a-while BNSF. The closest track is the West Shore Sub. The others are the Rochester Sub. MP is 361.240 ( at the crossing in west cam).
