Tennessee - Chattanooga Choo Choo
Chattanooga, TN -The Terminal Station seemed destined for the similar fate of Union Station (parts of which were built before the Civil War) at the center of town, which was demolished in 1973. But Terminal Station was saved from the wrecking ball by a group of local businessmen who were inspired by the theme of the "Chattanooga Choo Choo." They invested $4 million before its new grand opening on April 11, 1973, and the beautiful Terminal Station once again opened its doors to welcome visitors to Chattanooga - this time as a unique vacation complex. With its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, the Chattanooga Choo Choo is considered one of the city's first historic preservation projects.

Washington - Frank's Diner
Spokane, WA - During the golden days of railroading, Barney-Smith and Pullman vied for supremacy of the elegant rail car business. In 1906, Barney Smith manufactured this car as an observation car. It remained unsold until 1909, when it was purchased by the Northern Pacific Railroad and remodeled to suit their needs as a private car for the president of the railroad.
Car NO. 1787 (this car) served as a presidential car until it was replaced in 1931.
Stranded in Seattle at the height of the depression, NO 1787 found a new home. Franks Knight, the brother and sometime partner of jack Knight of Spokane, bought the presidential car and converted it into a diner car in 1931.
With over 100 years of dining elegance we are proud you have chosen to share your day with us.
Frank's Diner has a second location outside of the downtown area, housed in 1913 Laketon NO 4216 railcar.
