New York - Salamanca Rail Museum
The Salamanca Rail Museum's building was constructed in 1912 by the Buffalo Rochester & Pittsburgh Railroad, B.R.&.P) as a passenger station in downtown Salamanca on Main Street. This station was built for passengers in the down town area of Salamanca so they wouldn't have to travel as far to get to the East Salamanca Station on the Eastern end of the city. The B.R.&.P. was bought out by the Baltimore and Ohio (B.&.O) in 1928. The short line between the two stations was kept open through the years of passenger service, until services were ended in 1956 as the passenger service came to an end. The Station was then closed up shortly after. In 1980 the station was then re-opened after standing still in time for over 20 years, and is now open to the public as a museum displaying the three major railroads that came the the city of Salamanca, The B&O/BR&P, The Erie railroad, and the Pennsylvania railroad along with many other artifacts that members and guests have donated to the museum over time from diffrent railroads around the area and those of which came through the city. These artifacts range from paper work of those who worked for the railroads, to Bagage Carts and a Track Speeder. All of which are on display at our Museum. Our Museum also has on display several Rail Cars that are open to the public for viewing, as we have a wooden plaform between these cars for easier access to view. These cars consist of Two Box cars, Three Cabooses, and One Maint. of way box car. These three cabooses are from the railroads Pittsburgh and West Virginia, the Baltimore and Ohio, and The Pennsylvania railroads. The Maint. of Way Box car is from teh Erie Railroad, and our two box cars are from The Penn Central railroad and the Eria Lakawana railroad.

Our Pittsburgh and West Virginia caboose has a working coal stove that we fire up on weekends on cold days for guests to see it in working condition as a member of our staff is there to provide a tour through our cars.

New York - Wantagh Railroad Museum
Wantagh, NY - The Wantagh Museum resides in two structures, The Station and The Jamaica Railroad Car. The Station was built in 1885 and originally stood on Railroad Avenue, east of Wantagh Avenue. In 1966, The Station was moved to its current location to save it from demolition when the Wantagh Railroad service was expanded. After this move, The Station was restored to its 1904 appearance, and in 1982, the Wantagh Preservation Society opened the structure to the public as a museum.

North Carolina - Newton Depot Southeastern Narrow Gauge & Shortline Museum
Newton, NC - The railroad heritage of the southern United States is extremely rich and firmly rooted in our region's business and personal identity. Known for its production of agriculture, textiles, timber, and furniture, our industrial legacy was built upon a backbone of steel rails and wooden ties. From the 1830's until the present day, these lines provided a critical path for passengers, freight, and materials required for commerce. Along these rails are also scattered memories- loved ones embarking upon a new adventure, the soldier hero returning from war, or perhaps a simple visit with favorite cousins.

As a tribute to this history, the Newton (NC) Depot Authority is establishing the Southeastern Narrow Gauge & Shortline Museum. This museum will house a collection of vintage railroad equipment that dates as far back as the era of Reconstruction, days when primitive iron rails endeavored to connect the cotton fields of lowland farms to the vast timber interests of the Appalachians.

Join us on this journey, as we endeavor to create a museum, a living testimony unlike none other east of the Mississippi River and south of the Mason-Dixon.
