Utah - S & S Shortline Railroad
Farmington, UT - Due to the overwhelming response and interest we have received throughout the years, S&S Railroad Park & Museum opened to the public September 21, 2002. The creation of this park has been both the fulfillment of a dream and an exciting project.
In 1995 Steve and Susan Flanders began the construction of their railroad. This private hobby, which started with a simple circle in their back yard, has grown to over 11,000 feet of 7 1/2" gauge rail and 5,000 feet of 24" gauge rail and more than 90 engines and cars in both sizes. And it's still growing!

Huntington, VT - The most unique feature at Windekind is the one-eighth size steam-powered scale railroad that runs through the lawn and garden areas and into the forest. We use the railroad for special occasions including weddings and public events, and we operate it for our own enjoyment. Guest staying at the suite are welcome to ride the trains when they are operating.

Virginia - Burke Lake Miniature Train
Alexandria, Virginia - Burke Lake Miniature Train
For 38 years, the first miniature Central Pacific Huntington steam engine chugged over the tracks at Burke Lake Park, carrying kids who grew up and returned to bring their own children back for a ride on this community landmark.
In 2005, the little engine that could was retired, and now a new version of the one-third-scale replica C.P.Huntington is making the rounds.
The new locomotive looks the same but technology has made advances in the design of miniature trains. This model gets diagnostic tests performed by laptop computer, it boasts an automatic sander, it's quieter and the improved gas mileage is a driver's dream - 26 runs, almost continuously throughout the day, on just four gallons of gas.
The ride over 1.75 miles of track takes 10 minutes and reaches speeds of 10 to 12 miles per hour. And after the chug-along, there's more old fashioned fun to sample - a spin on the carousel, a hand-dipped cone at the Ice Cream Parlor and a walk on the park trail rated one of the 10 best urban fitness trails in the nation by the American Hiking Society.

Virginia - Goose Creek Railroad
Bristol, VA - The Goose Creek Railroad is a private two-foot gage railroad located in Bristol, Virginia. It is owned and operated by Wiley, Matt, and Mary Alice Helton. At this time there are approximately 2000 feet of track including one passing siding, two storage sidings, and a wye. The railroad rolling stock includes an electric trolley car, gasoline-hydraulic locomotive, excursion car, caboose, and a motorcar. In the summer of 2001, a 14'x24' depot was completed and a small museum is currently being installed. I hope you enjoy your visit to this website. There are many photos to view, as well as a complete map and description of the railroad. In the near future I hope to include a detailed history of the railroad since its inception in 1989.

Virginia - Gypsy Express
Staunton, VA - In 2007, the Gypsy Express entered its 50th year carrying children and their dreams in Staunton's sprawling Gypsy Hill Park. The Express, Virginia's "hometown" mini-train, is operated weekends during warm weather by the Gypsy Express Incorporated, a non-profit group of enthusiastic volunteers.
The Gypsy Express runs May through October. The Gypsy Express is a brief fun ride into another era. Today's riders are frequently the children and grandchildren of those who first rode the mini-train almost a half-century ago. Get in on the great Staunton train adventure! The Gypsy Express added a new car in 2003 offering access to those with physical disabilities. The new car allows everyone to enjoy the historic Gypsy Express.

Wisconsin - Fennimore RHS Wilkinson Railroad
Fennimore, WI - The Fennimore Railroad Historical Society Museum, home of the Dinky, is located in the former city power house and utility building. The building has been remodeled inside and out to resemble a turn-of-the-century depot.
The Wilkinson Collection
An operational 15″ gauge rail with 700 feet of track sits south of the railroad museum. Scale buildings complete the miniature layout. Rides are available ($1.00 for a train ride) on the 15″ miniature train system on weekends and scheduled holidays. (Please call before traveling a long distance.)
This miniature train layout was purchased from the late Vern Wilkinson who spent most of the spare time of his adult life creating the layout. It was Vern's greatest hope to share this system with the public.
The Wilkinson Railroad consists of a depot, engine barn, water tower, gondola, 2 hopper cars, coach, two engines and a caboose. The engines, a diesel locomotive and a 4-4-0 steam locomotive, took up to three years each to build. The diesel locomotive pulls the outdoor train, while the 4-4-0 steam engine is on display inside the museum. It is set up on a trestle using compressed air to show how moving parts of a steam engine operate. A steam boiler is set up to show how it is constructed. Other displays include patterns used for casting the various parts for the equipment.
