Texas - Texas Transportation Museum
San Antonio, TX - The Texas Transportation Museum is a volunteer led organization that collects, preserves and displays historically significant transportation equipment and related items. We operate a working passenger railroad, several model train layouts and many road vehicles. We provide an educational and entertaining experience which interprets how developments in transportation technology shaped and continue to impact daily life.

Texas Transportation Museum was begun in 1964. It's a great place, built and run by volunteers who like this stuff so much we are willing to work for free! There are now a few part-time staff members, but we remain very much a volunteer organization. We receive no government funding of any kind and are totally dependent on the income we make from visitors. We must be doing something right if we are still here after over 50 years! We are open three days a week and offer scheduled train rides on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Texas - The History Center at Diboll, TX
Diboll, Texas - The History Center Outdoor Railroad Exhibit. Railroads profoundly shaped our geographic and cultural landscape, creating and connecting communities like nothing before or since. Our fully accessible railroad display invites you to climb aboard, ring the locomotive's bell and blow the whistle, explore the caboose, and experience the sights and sounds of railroading's exciting past.

Built new for Texas Southeastern Railroad of Diboll, Texas (TSE) in 1920 by Baldwin Locomotive Works, Engine 13 is a 68-ton 4-6-0 or Ten-Wheeler steam locomotive. It was used regularly by TSE and Southern Pine Lumber Company (SPLCo) of Diboll as a mainline logging engine until replaced by TSE diesel-electric locomotive 22 in 1956. It then served extra duty periodically until 1964, when it was retired and placed on display. Temple-Inland donated the Engine to The History Center in 2002.

Texas - Wichita Falls Railroad Museum
Wichita Falls, TX - We are dedicated to preserving Railroad History of the Wichita Falls area. We enjoy our visitors and we enjoy the smiles and cheer that our museum brings to folks as they go back in time when they step aboard our trains.

One of our main historical interests is focused on the Missouri Kansas Texas Railway (M.K.T. or KATY), due to the large rail yard, which is mostly still here, that has served Wichita Falls for many years. Now operated by WICHITA TILLMAN & JACKSON (WTJ), this "North Yard" maintains equipment for the WTJ and also shares siding trackage and offices with Union Pacific (UP).
