Massachusetts - Amherst Railway Society
Amherst, MA - In simplest terms, the Amherst Railway Society is a community of people who share a fascination with railroads, and has been for over 50 years. If we go all the way back to the mid-1950s, we find a small group of University of Massachusetts students and faculty members who realized that they shared a common interest in railroads. So they started meeting regularly to share railroad knowledge, photographs, and stories. And those regular meetings continue to this day.

The small group grew, incorporated as a non-profit corporation, and started thinking about other ways to share their rail interests.

Every February the Society presents its annual "Big Railroad Hobby Show" at the Eastern States Exposition Fairgrounds (Big E) in West Springfield, MA.

Massachusetts Bay Railroad Enthusiasts, Inc. traces its beginnings to 1934, when our founders sponsored what TRAINS Magazine has called the world's first "railfan trip" on the now abandoned Hoosac Tunnel & Wilmington Railroad. Since then, we have sponsored hundreds of railfan excursions, many of them over "freight only" tracks. Whether your interest in railroading centers on rail travel, photography, history, models or just a love of trains, Mass Bay RRE may be for you!

Michigan - Southern Michigan Railroad Society
Clinton & Tecumseh, MI - We are a non-profit, all volunteer railroad museum. Our mission is to preserve the vast railroad history of Michigan, as well as northwest Ohio and northern Indiana.

Our organization was formed to preserve this branch line railroad, the Jackson Branch. It started in Palmyra in 1836 (in the MIchigan territory), reached Tecumseh in 1837, and Clinton in 1853. Unlike many railway museums, we own the railroad "lock, stock and barrel", and it used only for preservation - making us a living museum, able to operate our historic fleet.
