North Dakota - Bonanzaville Pioneer Village
Fargo, ND - The Railroad Museum houses various examples of railroad history including a wood snow wedge plow, a Northern Pacific passenger car and caboose. The highlight of the Railroad Museum is a steam locomotive used by the Northern Pacific Railroad and the Nez Perce and Idaho Railroad from 1883 to 1945. The engine was built by the New York Locomotive Works of Rome, New York in 1883 and given the shop number 39. It was constructed as a 4-4-0 type engine which has four large drive wheels, four smaller pivoting wheels and no trailing wheels behind the drive wheels. This type of engine was later designated the American Type.

North Dakota - Buckstop Junction
Bismarck, ND - Step inside our historic buildings and hear the stories of the people who moved here, built our towns and homesteaded the prairies of North Dakota. You will view actual buildings dating from 1875 to 1935 with traceable histories in our area. The buildings were moved to this site by the Missouri Valley Historical Society for preservation. They offer visitors a feel for the atmosphere of the Missouri River Valley during the time. Some of the buildings: Lein School #2 built in 1906 from near Arena, the Yegen Store built in 1877 from Bismarck, the Sterling Depot built in 1885, the Bethel Lutheran Church (1916) from near Coleharbor, the 1930s Capital Aviation hangar and the James Foley home both from Bismarck. Other early buildings include a Post Office, bank, barber shop, mine camp, farm museum, the Gellner Home (Germans from Russia), claim shack, Northern Pacific caboose and the Swedish Engstrom home (currently under restoration). Be sure to reserve some time before or after your tour to browse The Vintage Gift Shoppe at Buckstop Junction for North Dakota collectables, decor or your very own copy of "Old Walls do Tell Tales, the Pioneer Stories of Buckstop Junction."
