The Shohola Railroad and Historical Society, popularly know as The Caboose Group was formed March 19, 1991 for the specific purpose of preserving and maintaining the Shohola Caboose. When the group's constitution was completed in October of that year, its goal had been expanded to include the preservation of local history and railroad history, especially as it relates to the Shohola area.

New Freedom, PA - The William H. Simpson #17 is a faithful replica of the Civil War steam locomotive that carried Abraham Lincoln to deliver his now famous Gettysburg Address. These same tracks carried Lincoln's funeral train two years later. Come experience history as you ride in our custom built coaches, pulled by a 1860s replica steam locomotive.

Steam into History, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, educational, charitable organization. We operate a steam train that chronicles the role York County, PA. played in Civil War history and to promote the area as a tourist destination.

Steam into History passengers learn about the railway's role in the growth of small towns along the route and its major contributions to the economic development of York County.

Steam Into History opened June of 2013.
