New York - Hyde Park Station
Hyde Park, NY - The last regularly-scheduled New York Central passenger train stopped there in 1958. Subsequently the outer two tracks of the four-track "Water Level Route" were removed, and the entrances to the tunnel passage serving the southbound platform were boarded over.

The station, freight house and property was sold to the Town of Hyde Park by the New York Central Railroad. The station was badly vandalized and slated for demolition when the HUDSON VALLEY RAILROAD SOCIETY signed a lease for the building with the town in 1975.

Inside the Station you will find displays depicting the area's railroading past, running models trains, and knowledgable railroad enthusiasts who can answer your questions about the great "Iron Horse".

New York - Mt. Beacon Incline Railway Restoration Society
The Mt. Beacon Incline Railway once climbed 1,500 feet sharply up historic Mt. Beacon, and thrilled its passengers to spectacular views of the Hudson River Valley in the Hudson Highlands (where many of the great Hudson River artists were inspired). Located in Beacon New York, 60 miles north of New York City, it delighted thousands of people for over seventy five years until it was tragically destroyed by fire in 1983.

Entering into our fifth year of operation, the Incline Society is comprised of volunteers working to restore the railway. We are registered with the New York State Department of Education as a not-for-profit Historical Society

New York - MTA New York Transit Museum
Brooklyn Heights, NY - On July 4, 1976, the New York City Transit Exhibit opened to the public in a decommissioned subway station built in 1936. The exhibit, installed throughout the old Court Street subway station in Brooklyn Heights, was a celebration of America's Bicentennial as well as the role that public transportation played in the nation's development. This temporary exhibition proved so popular that it was never dismantled. Instead, it formed the sturdy foundation on which the New York Transit Museum was established.

Explore vintage subway cars, turnstiles, and other artifacts that tell the story of our public transportation systems, past and present.
