The Wilmington Railroad Museum has an eclectic collection of displays, which you and your children should find fun and educational. On the FUN side are a Thomas the Train play area, operating HO and O guage trains, and a real life-size caboose and steam locomotive. Educationally, we trace the historical development of railroads in the Wilmington area as well as the careers of famous people who were involved with railroads, such as Thomas Edison and George Pullman.

North Dakota - Bonanzaville Pioneer Village
Fargo, ND - The Railroad Museum houses various examples of railroad history including a wood snow wedge plow, a Northern Pacific passenger car and caboose. The highlight of the Railroad Museum is a steam locomotive used by the Northern Pacific Railroad and the Nez Perce and Idaho Railroad from 1883 to 1945. The engine was built by the New York Locomotive Works of Rome, New York in 1883 and given the shop number 39. It was constructed as a 4-4-0 type engine which has four large drive wheels, four smaller pivoting wheels and no trailing wheels behind the drive wheels. This type of engine was later designated the American Type.

North Dakota - Buckstop Junction
Bismarck, ND - Step inside our historic buildings and hear the stories of the people who moved here, built our towns and homesteaded the prairies of North Dakota. You will view actual buildings dating from 1875 to 1935 with traceable histories in our area. The buildings were moved to this site by the Missouri Valley Historical Society for preservation. They offer visitors a feel for the atmosphere of the Missouri River Valley during the time. Some of the buildings: Lein School #2 built in 1906 from near Arena, the Yegen Store built in 1877 from Bismarck, the Sterling Depot built in 1885, the Bethel Lutheran Church (1916) from near Coleharbor, the 1930s Capital Aviation hangar and the James Foley home both from Bismarck. Other early buildings include a Post Office, bank, barber shop, mine camp, farm museum, the Gellner Home (Germans from Russia), claim shack, Northern Pacific caboose and the Swedish Engstrom home (currently under restoration). Be sure to reserve some time before or after your tour to browse The Vintage Gift Shoppe at Buckstop Junction for North Dakota collectables, decor or your very own copy of "Old Walls do Tell Tales, the Pioneer Stories of Buckstop Junction."

North Dakota - North Dakota State Railroad Museum
Mandan,ND - In 1974 a railroad committee was formed within the Morton County Historical Society. During 1986 the Railroad Museum Historical Society was established from the original committee.
In 1985, Kenneth and Darlene Porsborg of Mandan, ND donated four acres of land for a museum in the NW part of Mandan. Also that year Burlington Northern, Inc. donated the yard office from Mandan and with the assistance from the Morton County Historical society the yard office was moved to it's current site.
The North Dakota State Legislature in 1989 designated the museum in Mandan as the North Dakota State Railroad Museum.
The Railroad Museum is located off of Interstate 94 at Exit 152 in Mandan. Go one mile west on Old Red Trail, then turn left on 37th Street and then right on 30th Avenue. Follow the Brown "RR Museum" signs

North Dakota - Old Soo Depot Transportation Museum
Minot, ND - The Old Soo Depot Transportation Museum and Western History Research Center is now housed in the handsomely restored 1912 Soo Line Depot.
The museum focuses on the history of transportation in the American West including railroads, automobiles, buses and aviation. Permanent exhibits include BNSF, Amtrak, Great Northern Railway, Milwaukee Road, Northern Pacific Railway, Soo Line/Canadian Pacific, Railway Express Agency and Westland Oil Company. Ohio - Bradford Railroad Museum
Bradford, OH - The Bradford Railroad Museum is a group dedicated to the preservation of Bradford, Ohio's railroad heritage. The railroad was once a significant part of Bradford's economy, employing many who manned the trains, worked in the switching yards and in the roundhouse where steam locomotives were kept and serviced between runs.
The museum has restored Bradford's former Pennsylvania Railroad BF interlocking tower and opened a museum in the former bank building. The museum contains photos and displays that will allow the visitor to journey through Bradford's railroad history.
